A visit to Dartmoor National Park looking at FiPL funded access works and new, nature improvement plans for the iconic Wistman’s Wood area. Walk and talk approach to morning and afternoon sessions.
Morning:
Visiting Brimpts Farm, Dartmeet. Introduction to the farm and Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL). Showcasing new access for all works carried out by the tenants to improve access at this fascinating central Dartmoor hill farm. Hosted and introduced by Duchy tenants Andy and Gabrielle and talk by Bea Dunscombe DNPA FiPL Officer.
Afternoon:
A walk up to Wistman’s Wood from Two Bridges to look at access improvements and exciting landscape-scale nature improvement plans (within the Central Dartmoor Landscape Recovery Area). Walk led by Fern Wilkinson (Duchy of Cornwall) and Chris Harbut (Natural England).
Programme:
10:00 Brimpts Farm – tea & coffee on arrival
10:30 introduction to Brimpts Farm and FiPL project
11:30 walk around new easy-access trail
12:30 lunch break
13:00 depart for Two Bridges car park
13:30 Walk to Wistman’s Wood led by Duchy of Cornwall and Natural England officers.
