A walk and talk exploring the stunning Melbury Valley and looking at the National Trust’s plans for the site.

On this walk and talk, with National Trust Countryside Manager for North & West Dorset Leo Henley Lock, and North Dorset Area Ranger Clive Whitbourn, we will discuss the journey so far in how we manage the beautiful Melbury Valley – including our current Woodland Management Plan, ambition for creating wood pasture, and how we are looking at landscape scale options in partnership with our tenant farmer to explore solutions for the biodiversity and carbon challenges of the future.

This will be a circular walk that will include a mixture of woodland tracks, rides, glades, and steep downland, with undulating, challenging terrain.

It will cover:

  • Adapting or responding to climate change
  • Addressing the crisis in nature
  • Adopting natural processes on a landscape scale

This event is kindly organised by the National Trust.

Please bring a packed lunch, drinks and snacks, please wear stout footwear and appropriate outdoor clothing.
