Paul Aubrey

Conservation Co-ordinator – Carmarthenshire County Council’s Outdoor Recreation Service

Paul’s first career was as a senior manager in the retail sector working across all aspects from day to day store operations to business development and HR, but his passion has always been in the outdoors and the natural world, especially the Western Palearctic. He has studied habitat management and ecology and following early retirement found a niche for both his managerial and conservation skills.  He holds an A permit for bird ringing but is so busy with the job that he doesn’t get out much!

Paul currently manages six local nature reserves covering around 300ha, the intertidal zone on the longest beach in Wales (2110ha), and advises colleagues and senior managers on the conservation management of the County’s seven Country Parks and Green Spaces (700ha).  He is passionate about involving the community in the work they do and has an amazing cohort of volunteer rangers.
