Last year the CMA was delighted to announce a new award, the George Mist Award for Woodland Magic. As with the Gordon Miller award, this is presented annually to the most deserving project, initiative or innovative practice that has made or is making an outstanding contribution to the conservation, management or community/educational use of woodland.
And this year we are thrilled to launch the Ancient Woodland Shield a new award acknowledging the hard work and commitment of people who contribute to protecting, enhancing and promoting the UK’s ancient woodland.
For all three awards, we want to celebrate all nominated projects, so every submission is featured in Ranger magazine. The Gordon Miller Award winner receives our Barn Owl trophy, the winner of the George Mist Award for Woodland Magic a trophy hand crafted in wood by George and a special ‘Shield’ for Ancient Woodland work, again crafted by George. The awards are a great way to recognise the hard work of rangers, and volunteers, across the country, giving projects publicity and encouraging funding organisations to provide further support in the future, so do take 15-20 minutes out of your day to fill in a submission form.
Nominations for all awards close on Saturday 19 September.
