Introduction to Freshwater Pollution Monitoring

Ideal for members who manage ponds and lakes on their site(s). Attendees will gain awareness of physical and chemical indicators of pollution events in the field. They will be able to assess and apply standard reporting methods relating to the aesthetic quality of lake and pond water and assess and apply standard reporting methods relating to the visual assessment of lakes and ponds.
The day will start with a short classroom introduction to a range of methods for pollution monitoring and equipment used to detect pollution in freshwater.
Attendees will then apply these methods in the field.
Attendees will need to bring wellies and/or waders; buoyancy aids and suitable clothing for working outside.
