Hedge Laying (A Practical Training Session)
Friday, January 10th, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
This is a practical hands-on day of training in hedge laying, which will include:
- Overview of what hedge laying is, and how it works
- Preparing the hedge for laying
- Practising the pleaching cuts
- Laying a section of hedge
- Staking and trimming the hedge
Hedge laying is a traditional countryside skill. The tools we will be using are saw, axe and billhook. It is intended that you will learn by doing, so we will be outside for the whole session.
Also covered during the day will be a brief history of hedging and how to choose a regional style that works for your needs.
Please bring your own food and refreshments.
