"The Olympic Legacy in the Lee Valley Park" 17th April 2013

by CMA Admin

This day is hosted by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority.

This is a follow-up visit to the one we made 3 years ago in 2010 when the Lee Valley White Water Centre was being built in the River Lee Country Park (RLCP) at Waltham Abbey. The Lee Valley Park Rangers and Conservation team were involved in this project and had to tackle a number of issues which they will be sharing with us. The day will start at the Youth Hostel in RLCP with a presentation and we will then visit some of the areas in and around the Centre.

0930: Arrival at Lee Valley Youth Hostel, Cheshunt
1000: Presentation looking at the developments that have taken place in the area in preparation for the Olympic Games and other conservation works
1045: Site visit to Hall Marsh Scrape and Seventy Acres Lake
1215: Lunch (bring your own packed lunch ? drinks provided)
1300: Walk ?the last mile? ending at Lee Valley White Water Centre to look at the rafting (hopefully)
1500: Walk back to the YHA
1530: Depart or take part in a rafting experience at a reduced rate (hopefully about 30 rather than 49) - PLEASE CONTACT CMA Admin asap if you want to take part in the rafting as a minimum number of 9 is required for our group rate. http://www.visitleevalley.org.uk/en/content/cms/outdoors/watersports/
