Your chance to learn more about Rock art, carved rocks and cup and ring stones, how they fit into the landscape and current research being undertaken to record and manage them.
Course leaders: City of Bradford MDC Countryside and Rights of Way Department.

09.45 Arrival and refreshments

10.15 Bruce Fowler, Centre Manager at Nell Bank will give an introduction.

10.30 Gavin Edwards, Bradford Museums Service. The evidence for past human activity on Rombald’s Moor and the long term effects such activity has had on the landscape.

11.20 Yvonne Luke, English Heritage. The Conservation of Scheduled Monuments and other archaeology on moorland.

12.10 Louise Brown, Community Archaeologist with Pennine Prospects and Richard Stroud, CSI Rombald’s Moor. Involving the community in recording, protecting and interpreting archaeology.

13.00 Lunch (please bring a packed lunch).

13.30 Site visit to Ilkley Moor to see Rock art.

15.30 Course conclusion/final discussion, feedback and refreshments.
