This day is hosted by the Broads Authority Ranger Service and is arranged by CMA member Colin Hart.
10.00 Arrival (Tea, coffee) at Island Cottage (park in car park in Common Lane and walk to cottage).
10.30 Merging rangers - A look at the new Broads Authority combined Ranger Team, which bring together both the land and water management aspects of the role, aiming to improve efficiency and prioritisation of work in each area in response to funding cuts. A presentation by the Deputy Head of Ranger Services, Lucy Burchnall, which will include an overview of the new team roles and the challenges ahead.
11.30 Heritage interpretation – A site visit to Geldeston lock to look at the recent completed locks project. Local Ranger Colin Hart will give an outline of the grand project and its more modest outcomes.
12.30 Lunch (bring packed lunch or snacks/drinks available at Geldeston Lock Pub
13.30 Integrated Access The Canoe Project - We will take to the water by boat and discuss and look at the proposed canoe access project connecting access points along the Waveney valley. Views will be sought on ways forward, funding and design.
15.00 Final discussions and depart
