Living Landscapes & Junior Rangers Tuesday 23rd March 2010

Suffolk Wildlife Trust, Carlton Marshes Education Centre,
Burnt Hill Lane, Carlton Colville, Lowestoft, NR33 8HU

Carlton Marshes is a lowland reserve in the Waveney valley. It contains over 100 acres of important habitats, including flower rich meadows, wet grassland, reedbeds, marsh and alder woodland and forms the first reserve to come into the Suffolk Wildlife Trust ownership in this living landscape.
The Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s “Suffolk Broads Living Landscape” aims to restore, recreate and reconnect core areas of habitat in the Lower Waveney Valley. The vision is a joined up landscape where there is connectivity between habitats allowing species to expand their range and move through a wildlife-rich countryside. A targeted approach is key to success, enabling significant landscape links to be made through encouraging small-scale, achievable actions by farmers and landowners.

10.30am – A walk around Oulton marshes nature reserve and the extensive river bank works there and a chat about the proposed site management of the new reserve.
