"Wild Ennerdale - a landscape scale approach to managing a remote Lakeland valley". - 18th March 2010

Wild Ennerdale covers 4,300 ha with the three main landowners The Forestry Commission, Natural Trust and United Utilities. The three partners bring different aspects and skills to Wild Ennerdale. The Forestry Commission manages the majority of the woodland in the valley in addition to the grassland in the central valley and fells between Pillar and Side Wood, The National Trust manages most of the grassland west of Ennerdale Water along with Herdus and the Fell land to the north and at head of the valley along with the fell land to the south of Ennerdale Water, United Utilities manages Ennerdale Water along with a treatment plant, car park and grassland around Bleach Green.

The partnership has agreed a number of overall objectives and guiding principals for Wild Ennerdale which along with the vision statement provides the overriding guidance in developing Wild Ennerdale.
