Nene Park Trust stretches for 10 km along the valley of the River Nene immediately west of Peterborough. It comprises lakes, meadows and woodlands providing opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation and informal activities ranging from archery & BBQ’s to horse riding & water sports. Managing these various activities and maintaining the Park’s facilities are just part of the role of the ranger team at Nene Park Trust.
10am - Coffee on arrival at the Visitor Centre
10.30am – Welcome and introduction to the Trust by Chief Executive James McCulloch, Visitor Services Manager Susan Taylor and Operations Manager Martin James
11.30am – A walk around the centre of the park to look at the Trust’s fledgling recycling project. A chance to discuss the wider issues of waste management within the parks industry.
12.30-1.15 Lunch. Bring a packed lunch or alternatively purchase something from the Visitor Centre Cafe
1.15 pm After a brief presentation by Chris Park, the Trust’s Visitor Services Officer, we will explore the park using our new GPS self led trail. This system allows the public to borrow a PDA loaded with software which delivers information to the user when triggered at certain GPS points.
3.30pm Return to the Visitor Centre for refreshments before departure
