Youth Ranger Training Taster Day Tuesday 6th October 2009

Losehill Hall, National Park Learning and Environmental Conference Centre,
Castleton, Hope Valley, Derbyshire, S33 8WB

The day will offer the opportunity to experience different elements of the Youth Ranger Training Course outlined below;

This course will follow the modules of the Youth Ranger programme; survival skills, navigation, interpretation and conservation, with participants being given an opportunity to develop skills and experience in these areas, as well as considering leadership issues and health and safety. Opportunities to consider sources of support and ways to link these activities into the curriculum will also be considered.

Basic skills such as safe use of cutting tools, firecraft and shelter building will be taught; ideas and techniques to develop interpretation and conservation skills will also be introduced. All in the context of providing a safe but stimulating outdoor classroom.
