CMA has undertaken to provide some limited funds for a ranger (or rangers) from poorer countries attend the International Ranger Federation World Ranger Congress in Tanzania in November 2012. This will take the form of a £ for £ match funding for anything donated or contributed by CMA members and supporters.
In this respect we are appealing to our members to help us either with a personal donation or by organising some fund raising events in their local region. For example, last year Langdon Hills Country Park raised £250 with a “Glow in the Dark” evening searching for glow worms followed by a curry!
Anything you can do to help rangers from less advantaged countries to attend the congress would be greatly appreciated. Please help us in this challenge and organise something locally. Alternatively we would be pleased to accept any individual contributions from members.
Cheques should be made payable to CMA and sent to CMA Admin. Writtle College, Chelmsford CM1 3RR with a note stating “IRF fund”
Any funds raised will be routed through the IRF Congress Sponsorship team led by Gordon Miller assisted by CMA's James Blockley.
This team will be responsible for judging the suitability of applicants and allocating and funds raised. Previously UNESCO has made it possible for some rangers from World Heritage sites to attend the IRF Congress but such funding this year is unlikely.
You can check-out via the following link those rangers who have applied for help thus far
