a former editor of CMA's RANGER magazine and CMA regional chairman during his time in Wales, has been appointed as Rural Estate Operations Manager for Landmarc Support Services. He brings his support of the CMA to Landmarc where he will be responsible for the rural elements of the Defence Training Estates throughout Great Britain.
The estate runs to over 220,000 Ha and includes 120 sites, 111 SSSI’s (73,000 Ha) , 782 SAMs, over a thousand Km of public rights of way, 11,000 plus Ha of woodland, 40,000+ designated as SPA, 58,635 Ha of Special Areas of conservation.
Landmarc Support Services Limited is a joint venture company between Interserve Defence Ltd and American firm, CSC Applied Technology Division. It was created in March 2003 specifically to deliver Project Vanguard, a 10 – 15 year strategic partnering project to provide a range of comprehensive and unique facilities management and support services to the MoD's Defence Training Estate (DTE). Project Vanguard, the MOD name for the Landmarc partnership, is worth £600 million and at the time of award was one of the largest public private partnership (PPP) ever awarded by the government.
Part of Defence Estates, the DTE is primarily used for Defence training, enabling front-line experience for our armed forces on a wide variety of terrains under diverse operational conditions. Landmarc, in conjunction with its strategic partners, manages, maintains and operates around 120 camps and all training facilities across 10 DTE regions.In partnership with DTE, Landmarc aims to provide the highest level of service to the army, working together to enable safe, sustainable and effective military training. In 2007 Landmarc and Defence Training Estates won both the Partners in Multi Services and the Overall Partnership Award at the prestigious Premises and Facilities Management (PFM) Awards.
